Akin Gump Hit With $72.6 Million Malpractice Verdict
Friday, May 8th, 2009Air Measurement Technologies Inc., a Texas company, claimed that Akin Gump bungled the company’s patent applications for a safety device. The device was designed to alert fire fighters to the amount of time that they can safely remain in a fire.
According to the complaint, and as reported by the WSJ, Akin Gump failed to adequately prepare and prosecute the plaintiffs’ patents, impeding Air Measurement’s ability to recover damages when competitors allegedly infringed the patents.
