Federal Preemption After Wyeth

Monday, May 11th, 2009

imagesOn Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 11:45 – 1:00 pm, the Palo Alto Area Bar Association Trial Practice Forum will present a seminar and CLE on Wyeth v. Levine and its aftermath.  The Wyeth decision represented a sea change in federal preemption as a defense.  And while the decision resolved many questions regarding federal preemption, it left many others unanswered.

Join us at the Law Office of Brett A. Burlison, 530 Lytton Ave. 2nd Floor, Palo Alto, as we discuss this important Supreme Court decision and its impact.

Palo Alto Area Bar Association Trial Practice Forum Series

Monday, April 13th, 2009

I am the chairperson of the newly-formed Palo Alto Area Bar Association Trial Practice Forum.  The Trial Practice Forum will offer a series of CLE seminars and roundtable discussions regarding trial practice and litigation starting on May 14, 2009.

In May, we will offer Federal Preemption after Wyeth as a roundtable imagesdiscussion.  The US Supreme Court decision in Wyeth v. Levine was a landmark decision for federal preemption and specifically defective drug litigation.  What other areas of litigation and industry were impacted by this decision?  What issues still remain regarding preemption after Wyeth?  The discussion will examine these issues and more.  The seminar will take place at the Law Office of Brett A. Burlison, 530 Lytton Ave. 2nd floor, Palo Alto, CA. 94301, at 11:45 – 1:00 p.m.  Lunch will be provided.

The Trial Practice Forum will also offer seminars regarding liens and deposing experts in June and July as well.
